The TrustedSite app is now Built for Shopify
Many of the people who land on a Shopify store have never heard of the brand behind it. In our 2026 State of Ecommerce Trust research, 96% of shoppers told us they're concerned about buying from sites they've never heard of, compared with 48% for large, established brands. That gap is where a lot of sales quietly slip away.
So we're glad to share some news. The TrustedSite app has earned Built for Shopify status, Shopify's highest standard for apps in its ecosystem. It's a recognition we're proud of, and it matters most for what it tells you as a merchant: the trust badges you add to your Shopify store are backed by an app that Shopify itself has vetted for quality, performance, and merchant value.
What Built for Shopify means
Built for Shopify is a designation Shopify grants to a small group of apps that clear its highest bar for design, speed, and reliability inside the admin. It isn't automatic and it isn't permanent. An app has to show that it runs cleanly in the Shopify admin, loads fast, and actually helps merchants get results, and it has to keep meeting that standard to hold the status.
For you, the badge on our app listing is a shortcut. It means the tool you're installing has already passed Shopify's review, so you can spend less time vetting and more time selling.
Why trust badges matter for Shopify merchants
Trust is the quiet variable in almost every checkout. A shopper who likes your product still has to decide whether your store is safe to hand a card to, and on an unfamiliar site that decision goes against you more often than you'd think.
The data is consistent on this. In our 2026 research, business legitimacy was the top concern causing shoppers to abandon a purchase for the second wave in a row, cited by 51% of shoppers, up from 46% in 2024. Meanwhile 82% said they're more likely to trust a site that prominently displays a third-party verified trust badge, and 40% read the absence of trust indicators as a possible sign of fraud. A trust badge is often the difference between a shopper who hesitates and one who checks out.
Our own badge carries weight here. 74% of shoppers say seeing the TrustedSite badge on an unfamiliar site would make them more likely to complete a purchase, and 53% already recognize it from their own shopping. With 400,000+ sites displaying the trust badge, that recognition is earned rather than assumed.
